BEAULIEU AWARDED BEST SHARED OWNERSHIP DEVELOPMENT AT INSIDE HOUSING DEVELOPMENT AWARDS 2021

We are excited to announce that Beaulieu, one of the most important new developments in Chelmsford, Essex, was awarded the Best Shared Ownership Development award (rural and suburban), at the Inside Housing Development Awards 2021.

These prestigious awards celebrate the best residential developments across the UK, recognising housebuilders’ delivery of desirable, high-quality homes, and we are proud to be named amongst the winners.

Named the winner of the Best Shared Ownership Development (rural and suburban), this award acknowledges the development’s ability to successfully meet local demand. Offering some of the most affordable homes in Chelmsford, Beaulieu comprises 432 one, two and three-bedroom Shared Ownership apartments and two and three-bedroom Shared Ownership houses, set amongst the themed, manicured gardens and tree-lined avenues. With 87% of all buyers originating from the surrounding area, Beaulieu’s provision of affordable homes has enabled buyers previously priced out of the area to step onto the property ladder.

Proving popular with first-time buyers, second-steppers and downsizers alike, every phase of Shared Ownership here at Beaulieu has received more applications than the number of units available. With approximately 200 Shared Ownership residents currently living on site, alongside private residents, Beaulieu boasts to a vibrant and diverse community.

David and Toni, who purchased a 25% share of a three-bedroom house here at Beaulieu, says:

“We looked at buying on the open market originally but saving for a deposit with a newborn baby and Toni on maternity leave pay made the challenge seem insurmountable. Shared Ownership at Beaulieu made it a lot easier to get on the property ladder and we couldn’t have done it any other way.”

Set within the majestic former parkland of King Henry VIII’s Palace of Beaulieu, the landmark 610-acre development, once complete, will comprise 3,600 new mixed tenure homes. Featuring 176 acres of public open space the development has been designed to be completely accessible without a car, through an elaborate network of footpaths, cycle routes and bridleways.
