BEAULIEU AWARDED THE COVETED GREEN FLAG AWARD AS IT IS OFFICIALLY RECOGNISED AS HAVING ONE OF THE COUNTRY’S BEST GREEN SPACES

Countryside and L&Q, the developers of Beaulieu, alongside the Land Trust who now manage the open spaces at Beaulieu, are celebrating after receiving a Green Flag Award for new development, Beaulieu in Chelmsford, one of 2,208 UK winners.

The award is the international quality mark for parks and green spaces.

After two years that have seen our parks and green spaces play a vital role for people through lockdowns as a place to relax, exercise and meet friends and family safely, the news that Beaulieu has achieved the Green Flag Award is testament to the hard work and dedication of the team that make the parks and green spaces at Beaulieu a great space that everyone can enjoy.

Martin Leach, Managing Director, Strategic Land, Countryside said:

‘We are very proud that our efforts to create beautiful parks and open spaces at Beaulieu have been recognised with such a prestigious award. It is a testament to our team’s unwavering dedication and hard work to deliver places people love and we hope the parks here will be enjoyed by current and future residents for many years to come.’

Adam Simpson, Development & Project Management Director at L&Q
said: “We are thrilled to be awarded the prestigious Green Flag Award for our parks at Beaulieu. This award reaffirms our approach to placemaking by providing well designed, high-quality affordable homes surrounded by great open spaces.

“This is a unique landscape-led development, offering 176 acres of green open space, including communal gardens, parks and meadows, perfectly complementing the peaceful views of the rolling Essex countryside.”

Alan Carter, CEO at the Land Trust said:
“We are delighted to receive the recognition of a Green Flag Award for Beaulieu. The cost of managing the open space around the new development is paid for by homeowners through an annual service charge. We take great pride in managing the site which provides an enticing green space for residents and the local community to enjoy and where nature can thrive.”

Commenting on the news that Beaulieu has met the Green Flag Award standard, Keep Britain Tidy’s Accreditation Manager Paul Todd said: “I would like to congratulate everyone involved in making Beaulieu worthy of a Green Flag Award.

“Beaulieu is a vital green space for the community in Chelmsford. This award is testament to all the hard work of staff and volunteers, who do so much to ensure that it maintains the high standards demanded by the Green Flag Award.”

The Green Flag Award scheme, managed by environmental charity Keep Britain Tidy under licence from the Department for Levelling Up, Housing and Communities, recognises and rewards well-managed parks and green spaces, setting the benchmark standard for the management of green spaces across the United Kingdom and around the world.
