MAYOR WELCOMES START ON SITE OF NEW HOMES AT BEAULIEU


A ground breaking event to mark the start on site of the first new homes at Beaulieu took place on Friday 14th November, where the Mayor and Mayoress of Chelmsford, Cllr and Mrs Bob Villa, Leader of the Council, Cllr Roy Whitehead and Cllr Neil Gulliver joined senior members of Countryside and L&Q to officially celebrate this exciting milestone.


Speaking about the start of work on site, Councillor Bob Villa, Mayor of Chelmsford, commented: “I am delighted that work has now started on the new homes at Beaulieu - it marks a great step forward for the city. As the largest residential scheme being created in Chelmsford, Beaulieu will provide extensive facilities for the community to enjoy for many years to come. I look forward to watching this exciting development progress.”


Leader of the Council, Cllr Roy Whitehead said “I am delighted to be here today as it demonstrates the City Council’s willingness to see high quality development take place in Chelmsford, England’s newest City. This is a very large project that will deliver both new homes but also much-needed infrastructure which will introduce L&Q working in partnership with Countryside to continue their long and successful association with Chelmsford.”


Deputy Chairman of Countryside, Richard Cherry said: “We were delighted to be joined by the Mayor of Chelmsford and the Leader of the City Council to officially celebrate the start on site of the residential housing atBeaulieu. Designed within a series of distinctly designed neighbourhoods linked by extensive open spaces and landscaping, Beaulieu will offer a complete range of housing from one bedroom apartments to five bedroom houses to suit different buyers and lifestyles. We will also be delivering extensive community facilities including sites for two new primary schools and a secondary school with associated sports facilities. A new Neighbourhood Centre with shops, restaurant, day nursery, community and health centres is also planned within the first phase of the development to create a vibrant community hub from the outset.”


Richard continues: “To further ensure the success of this exciting new scheme, a new relief road will connect Beaulieu with the A12 and there is a site designated for a new mainline railway station on the East Anglian main line, which is due to be developed by Network Rail following a £22m investment from Beaulieu. A strategic 400,000 sq ft business park will also be developed which could create 3,500 new job opportunities for local people.”


Adam Simpson, Associate Director for Regeneration and Equity at L&Q says: “It is very exciting to be joined by the Mayor of Chelmsford and the Leader of the City Council to mark this important moment with our partners at Countryside. We are absolutely delighted to be celebrating this start on site for the wide range of high quality new homes at Beaulieu, each of which will be individually designed to suit different life choices. These will be supported by the facilities for work, play, education and health needed to create Beaulieu as the place where people will want to live, work, and bring up their children, along-side much-needed new infrastructure which will benefit the whole region.”


Due to be launched in early Summer 2015, the first 49 new homes at Beaulieu will offer a collection of traditional style family homes ranging from two to five bedrooms, designed to suit today’s modern lifestyles.
