On Wednesday 14th December 2016, home builders Countryside and L&Q hosted nearly 200 residents of Beaulieu, Chelmsford at a community Christmas event, bringing new neighbours together to celebrate the festive season.
Current residents, buyers and potential purchasers all came together to meet each other and enjoy a turkey roast with mince pies, mulled wine and hot chocolate. Local Reverend, Sue Howlett, and her choir attended to entertain the guests with some carols, alongside the Santa Singers, with a beautiful 20ft Christmas tree providing a festive backdrop. Excited children got the chance to meet Santa and three of his reindeer and even received an early Christmas gift. A special North Pole post box was set up so children could write and post their letters to Santa during the Christmas carol service and the Land Trust provided an opportunity to create a Christmas wreath. Guests were encouraged to enter the raffle draw for a chance to win a host of festive prizes, including a private ‘Host a Roast’ in The Galvin Brothers’ new local restaurant, The Green Man, in Howe Street, for up to six guests.
Chris Bladon, Managing Director of New Homes and Communities Eastern Region at Countryside, comments: “It’s fantastic to see the growth of the development and the new community coming together at Beaulieu. This is the second year of running the Christmas event and we were pleased to see so many new residents attending and getting in the festive spirit! We look forward to our Beaulieu Christmas resident’s event growing year on year and hope it becomes a date in the diary that all our buyers look forward to.”
On completion, Beaulieu will deliver up to 3,600 homes situated within individually designed areas, each having its own architectural style. Homes’ interiors are meticulously planned and designed to a high quality specification, they feature contemporary kitchens with energy efficient appliances and elegant white bathrooms. The overall scheme will offer a range of properties from one bedroom apartments to detached five bedroom family houses.
A key element of Beaulieu’s new neighbourhood is innovative and inclusive landscape design to promote a sense of well-being for residents. A wide network of open spaces will include sports facilities, meadows, recreation areas for dog walking, a community garden, large play parks, all connected by a network of footpaths, cycle paths and bridleways.
All residential areas will be supported by an infrastructure of first class amenities: two proposed primary schools, a secondary school, a mixture of community, health and retail facilities. There are plans for improving transport links too, which includes building a new railway station on the main East Anglian line and a new relief road connecting Beaulieu to the A12.
