Beaulieu, the exciting new development underway on the outskirts of Chelmsford by Countryside and L&Q, is sponsoring Springfield Cricket Club by donating brand new shirts for this cricket season. The club is located in Coronation Park in Chelmsford which recently received the nationally acclaimed Green Flag Award for parks excellence.
Beaulieu is sponsoring the four senior teams which play on a Saturday in the T. Rippon Mid-Essex League, a Sunday XI in the North Essex League and a midweek 20/20 team. Springfield also has a touring team who have travelled all over Europe in the past 15 years, and they are proud to be home to one of the largest junior cricket sections in the county.
Andrew Carrington, Managing Director, Strategic Land at Countryside, comments, “We are pleased to have the opportunity to sponsor Springfield’s senior teams for the 2017 / 2018 season. Cricket and team sports in general are such a major part of what makes community life really come together; something which we are striving for at Beaulieu. The provision of good quality open space is key to enabling the community to come together which is why our plans for Beaulieu include over 118 acres of open space for sport, leisure and recreation. We hope that many of our residents will get involved in the sport available on their door step in the future.
“I wish the Springfield senior teams every success this season, following on from their strong performance last season.”
Jim Symonds, Club Captain of Springfield Cricket Club, added, “We are delighted that Beaulieu has agreed to sponsor our men’s shirts for this season. Support such as this really does make a difference to our teams and players and we are very grateful for their backing.”
Countryside’s new development in Beaulieu is designed as a vibrant new district for Chelmsford, with inspiring architecture and attractive landscaping. Beaulieu is a great place for people to live, work and spend their leisure time, with a series of distinctly designed neighbourhoods linked by beautiful parklands and open spaces. The county’s first all-through school is being built at Beaulieu offering early years, primary and secondary education all on one campus. It is hoped that the proposed sports facilities within the school campus will also be available for the wider community to use.
Jerome Geoghegan, Group Director at L&Q said: "Essex has long been associated with cricket and with this in mind it is terrific that we are getting involved in sponsorship of this successful local team. Cricket is a game that often includes the entire family. Both boys and girls make fine cricketers and spending an afternoon outdoors making friends and watching some wickets is not a bad way to pass a Sunday. I wish these teams well for the season.”
