We’re thrilled to announce that Beaulieu, the award-winning joint venture scheme by Countryside and L&Q in Chelmsford, Essex, has won the Excellence in Design & Placemaking award at the 2024 Essex Housing Awards.

These esteemed awards celebrate developments across Essex that go beyond meeting housing needs to enhance the local community. Winning projects are recognised for elevating housing standards through outstanding design, construction, and community engagement.

Beaulieu exemplifies this vision by creating a vibrant, integrated neighbourhood in Chelmsford, with new homes supported by extensive infrastructure and community amenities. In addition to delivering 3,600 high-quality homes and thoughtfully designed green spaces, this mixed-use development includes community, health, sports, and retail facilities, as well as Essex’s first all-through primary and secondary school, a day nursery, and an education centre. Looking ahead, the new Beaulieu train station is nearing completion and expected to be operational in 2025 - making it a truly sustainable urban extension for Chelmsford.
