FAMILY FUN FOR ONE AND ALL AT BEAULIEU’S SUMMER FETE

With a jazz band, Bake Off competition, outdoor games, ‘Green Man’ pop-up ‘Great British Pub’ from Michelin starred chefs Galvin, plus an array of BBQ food and drinks, new and existing residents at the Beaulieu development in Chelmsford, Essex were given a day to remember at a Summer Fete held on Sunday 17th July.

The fete was organised to bring the new Beaulieu community together and provide the opportunity for residents to meet their neighbours. The event offered something for everyone, including local stalls, traditional funfair games, BBQ, fun food cart, ice cream and face painting. In advance of the opening of ‘The Green Man’ in Howe Street near Chelmsford later this summer, ‘The Green Man’ pop-up ‘Great British Pub’, gave residents an exclusive opportunity to try out traditional treats prepared by Michelin starred chefs Chris and Jeff Galvin including Cumbrian sausage rolls and venison scotch eggs.

The Galvin team and Countryside were delighted to be judges of Beaulieu’s very own ‘Bake Off’ with its cake making competition receiving a spectacular range of homemade entries.Keen bakers were competing for three top prizes, the winner having the opportunity to ‘Host a Roast’ in one of ‘The Green Man’s’ private dining rooms for up to eight guests.

Chris Bladon, Managing Director of Countryside’s New Homes and Communities Eastern Region comments: “The Beaulieu summer fete was a great day with a genuine neighbourly atmosphere. The afternoon provided a wonderful opportunity for over one hundred existing and soon to be residents to get a real sense of the vibrant, friendly community that is growing at Beaulieu and appreciate how green space is a fundamental part of this scheme.”

Kelly Hollbrook, winner of the Beaulieu Fete Bake Off, comments: "We're really impressed with Beaulieu. It's amazing what Countryside have planned for the development and we are looking forward to seeing it all come together. Today has been lovely, we were one of the first people to move in so it's been nice to finally meet our neighbours. We're delighted that we won the Beaulieu Fete bake off! We definitely weren't expecting it, seeing as we were all fighting over it in the kitchen this morning trying to make it together!"

On completion, Beaulieu will deliver up to 3,600 homes situated within individually designed areas, each having its own architectural style. Homes’ interiors are meticulously planned and designed to a high quality specification, they feature contemporary kitchens with energy efficient appliances and elegant white bathrooms. The overall scheme will offer a range of properties from one bedroom apartments to detached five bedroom family houses.

A key element of Beaulieu’s new neighbourhood is innovative and inclusive landscape design to promote a sense of well-being for residents.A wide network of open spaces will include sports facilities, meadows, recreation areas for dog walking, a community garden, large play parks, all connected by a network of footpaths, cyclepaths and bridleways.

All residential areas will be supported by an infrastructure of first class amenities: two proposed primary schools, a secondary school, a mixture of community, health and retail facilities. There are plans for improving transport links too, which includes building a new railway station on the main East Anglian line and a new relief road connecting Beaulieu to the A12.
