Havens Hospices has confirmed Sunday 13th October 2024 as the date for this year’s Chelmsford Marathon and Half Marathon.
Organised by Essex based charity Havens Hospices, which supports specialist care for children across the county, and sponsored by Countryside and L&Q’s flagship development, Beaulieu, runners from far and wide will return to Chelmsford’s city centre to raise funds for this much-valued charity.
Both the marathon and the popular 13.1-mile half marathon route will start and finish in Chelmsford’s picturesque Central Park.
Proceeds raised from the event will help support the charity’s work across the county, providing specialist care and support for babies, children, young people, and their families, either within the home or at Little Havens.
Lucy Lock, Community Engagement Manager at Havens Hospices, said, “If you think you have got what it takes, why not register today? Every mile will truly be ‘Making every day count’ for every child, young person and family relying on our care.
“This event is popular in the Essex race calendar and is a favourite every year with local runners. Events like the Chelmsford Marathon raise vital funds for our hospice care. Without the generosity of the public making donations and collecting sponsorship, we couldn’t provide specialist care and support for hundreds of families.
“The demand for our care is increasing, so this year, we’ve added a special ‘Havens Hero’ ticket option, which includes the cost to cover half an hour of essential care at the hospice, making a real difference for someone in need.”
Havens Hospices is thrilled to have Beaulieu
in Chelmsford back on board as headline sponsor for the fifth year in a row.
Martin Leach, Managing Director, Major Projects, Countryside said: “We are proud to be continuing our sponsorship of the Chelmsford Marathon and Half Marathon in support of Havens Hospices. It is an important event in the charity’s calendar helping to raise much needed funds so they can continue to provide specialist care for children across Essex. The Marathon and Half Marathon are both hugely popular events attracting runners and volunteers from far and wide – I would encourage local residents to support the event in whatever way they can.”
Adam Simpson, Development & Project Management Director at L&Q, said: “The Chelmsford Marathon and Half Marathon succeed every year in uniting the local and wider community and raising much-needed funds for an important local cause. The work Havens Hospices carries out throughout Essex provides an important source of support for local families and, together with our partners and the local Beaulieu community, we are very proud to be involved in this fantastic Chelmsford event.”
