CHELMSFORD MARATHON BOOSTS FUNDS FOR BEAULIEU'S NOMINATED CHARITY HAVENS HOSPICES

Beaulieu is proud to sponsor the Chelmsford Marathon and Half Marathon for the fifth consecutive year, helping Essex charity Havens Hospices raise vital funds to support families across Essex.

Havens Hospices, which organises the Chelmsford Marathon, is a charity that provides specialist care and support for people of all ages who are living with incurable conditions. The care and support provided includes everyone, extending to partners, family and friends, to make sure that support is available for patients and the people who matter to them, when they need it.

Countryside and L&Q’s flagship Beaulieu development has been sponsoring Havens Hospices’ Chelmsford Marathon and Half Marathon event for five years, helping the charity raise much-needed funds from this popular community event to ensure that the care provided can continue to be free of charge.

Funds raised from the Chelmsford Marathon, in addition to donations made from the wider Essex community, have enabled the charity to continue its important work. Here, we showcase the important impact the charity has made on local Essex families.

Alyssa

Alyssa lives at home with her mum, Lynette, dad, Nicolas, and brother Ethan. She relies on a wheelchair to get around and needs others to provide her personal care. She can’t communicate through speech, just noises and facial expressions, and is fed through a feeding tube. Alyssa and her family have been coming to Little Havens for respite for ten years.

Lynette, Alyssa’s mum, said: “Thank you to everyone who's donated money or time to Little Havens. Without you, Little Havens wouldn’t exist, and we wouldn't have a place to rely on. Our family really appreciate it.”

Arizona

Arizona is a cheeky, curious boy who, in a lot of ways, is just a regular four-year-old boy. However, he was born with five brain abnormalities and diagnosed with multiple life-long conditions, which means he needs 24/7 care and relies on his parents for everything.

Deborah, Arizona’s mum, said: “We would just like to say a huge thank you to everyone who's raising money for Havens Hospices and making donations. Your money is going somewhere, it's going to regular people like us who have been thrust into a really unexpected journey when we were told there was no cure.”

Martin Leach, Managing Director, Countryside Major Projects, said: “The work Havens Hospices provides to families in Essex is so important and we are very pleased to be continuing our sponsorship of a popular community event which raises much-needed funds to enable the charity to carry out their work. We would like to wish Havens Hospices and all those participating in this year’s Chelmsford Marathon and Half Marathon a fantastic 2024 event.”

Without the generosity of the public making donations and collecting sponsorship, Havens Hospices which includes Little Havens, couldn’t provide specialist care and support for hundreds of families. The demand for their care is increasing, so this year, they’ve added a special ‘Havens Hero’ ticket option, which includes the cost to cover half an hour of essential care at the hospice, making a real difference for someone in need.

The event will take place on Sunday 13th October 2024, and to find out how you can get involved, visit:  www.havenshospices.org.uk/chelmsfordmarathon
